Paying the Price for those Unhealthy Food Cravings
People are shown to pay disproportionately more money for unhealthy foods they are craving.

Everyone experiences cravings from time to time, sometimes we are seeking comfort a certain food brings us, other times someone will mention a food and we will think "man that sounds good about now". But have you ever thought about how much money you would be willing to pay to satisfy those cravings?
Biscuits, Gluten-Free, Rice Flour, Food

Researchers at New York University have, and they have come to the conclusion people are willing to pay significantly more for a craving of the unhealthy variety, think higher calorie and higher fat content, than a healthier option, like a granola bar. They asked subjects to indicate how much they would pay for a snack item after they developed a craving for it, cravings were identified as having a significant desire for the snack. We now have a link between cravings, portions, and economic value, hopefully in the future this information can help us stop these cravings.
